Old Faithful, Yellowstone National Park, WY

5/8/2015

Sleep good last night.  34 deg. F for the low.  Today we drive to Old Faithful and the Yellowstone Inn.  Cool and overcast today in the 40's.  More people here than we expected.
Saw Old Faithful do its thing.  Its interesting to learn some day Old Faithful will not exist any longer.  My guess millions up on millions have seen this amazing event.

We went to the Visitors Center and talked to a Ranger.  She had Interesting facts about the park. Its hard to believe the large forest fire was in 1988.  Derek and I was here a few years later and saw the devastation.  Today still many acres show reminders of the fire.  Trees are now around 25 feet in height where the burn took place, but many are still bare and burnt. Takes years to replenish the damage done.

Set in the parking lot for 1 hour or so catching up our blog.  No Internet service in most places in the park.  Afterwards we went to the Inn and had lunch.  The Inn is an amazing structure made from logs at Yellowstone.  Beautiful work.

Stopped at Grand Prismatic Springs on our way back to the campgrounds.  Here the water is Turquoise and several other colors signifying the bacteria in the very hot water.

Camping again tonight for the 3rd night.  Purchased a Yellowstone Souvenir Pin for our collection. Tomorrow off to Grand Canyon of Yellowstone to see the great falls.  Then off to Tetons for Our Kodiak Adventures.
