5/1/2015 The Mount Rushmore National Memorial is a sculpture carved into the granite face of Mount Rushmore (Lakota Sioux name: Six Grandfathers) near Keystone, South Dakota , in the United States . Sculpted by Danish-American Gutzon Borglum and his son, Lincoln Borglum , Mount Rushmore features 60-foot (18 m) sculptures of the heads of four United States presidents : George Washington (1732–1799), Thomas Jefferson (1743–1826), Theodore Roosevelt (1858–1919), and Abraham Lincoln (1809–1865). The entire memorial covers 1,278.45 acres (2.00 sq mi; 5.17 km2) and is 5,725 feet (1,745 m) above sea level. Lots of sites seen today.  Stopped at Keystone at a small camping ground for the night. Heading North tomorrow.

Crazy Horse Memorial, SD

5/1/2015 Our next Kodiak Adventure was " Crazy Horse Memorial ".  I was here about 18 years ago with my son Derek.  Not a lot of noticeable changes in the sculpture, but a log of infrastructure change for the tourist.  Lots of added sq. ft. for museum items.  The complete project is funded by privet funding. I suppose they had to make it more attractive for people to visit. The gate keeper made us aware a large donation was received lately.  They requested the Horse head be completed with the funds.  This will make a big difference in the appearance of the sculpture.  They seem to still be funded, so maybe some day they will completed the project.
